Professional Learning Teams

The Professional Learning Teams (PLT) at Dillard Drive Elementary serve many purposes. Divided by commonalities (ie. 1st grade; math teachers; Title I teachers) the teams meet weekly for 45 minutes to one hour. This structured time provides teachers an opportunity to work together planning appropriate instruction, sharing feedback and personal practices, and supporting one another.

At these meetings, the teachers also conduct conversations about individual and groups of students, altering the teaching in order to provide more effective learning, and identifying related issues and problems. Through participation in these conversations, teachers learn to apply new ideas and information to problem solving and therefore are able to create new conditions for students. The opportunity to confer with colleagues, share feedback on instruction and instructional techniques, and discuss concerns about students provides teachers with invaluable resources and knowledge. Biweekly minutes from PLTs are provided on the website.
